Guys, I am telling you, sometimes you need to take life one day at a time…especially if you are trying to lose weight and live healthier.
I had a conversation with my previous Crossfit trainer, Larry, on Saturday. He is working on some certifications and needed a “dummy” or should I say, “student” to do some practice work on.
We had a good conversation where we came up with a weekly plan for me to make good choices. This is what the plan entailed:- Getting up at 5:20 every day to get in a quick Tabata workout. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are squats, push ups and sit ups. Tuesday and Thursday are Tabata jump ropes and sprints. Fast and furious but just what my metabolism needs to get revved up and work on burning fat all day.
- The other thing I was going to do was to move more. When I had a few minutes of a break at work, walk around the track. Teachers are pretty active throughout the day anyway but my goal was to get 8,000 steps a day in.
- I was going to track everything in My Fitness Pal and stay at or under 1500 calories a day – not including exercise calories.
- Email my stats to Larry every night and let him keep me accountable.
Those were my goals for the week. For the first part of the week, I rocked it! I got up early, did my workouts, ate what I was supposed to, walked between conferences (it is conference week at school), and emailed all my stuff to Larry at night.
Then…stress hit.
I got overwhelmed with the amount of conferences I had done and the stress from it all. I got overwhelmed with my lack of blogging lately and I had gotten behind on a few projects I needed to work on.
I got overwhelmed with life and went to Burger King.
It was fast and I was hungry and I needed to get something before I turned into a raging machine.
I got a whopper junior and a medium fry and ate it and enjoyed it and felt better after. I mean…”better” as in I wasn’t hungry anymore.
I knew my calories were going to be ok because I hadn’t eaten too much that day at work. I knew I just needed to get right back on the wagon and make good choices the next day.
And that is exactly what I did.
Today, I was back on schedule. Tracking, walking, and being accountable.
Some days, in this crazy weight loss, we have to take things one day at a time. Mistakes are going to happen. We are going to screw up. We are going to slip and fall.
We just need to remember to get back up. Get up, brush yourself off, and move on.
I, for one, am so thankful that conference week is coming to a close. I LOVE conference week when it is over. I LOVE talking to the parents and having intense conversations about their children. But…it is draining and long and when you have 30 to do, it takes a toll on you.
I am ready for the weekend. I have some fun posts coming this weekend that I think you are going to like so watch for those on Saturday (hint…one is a giveaway!).
Just remember…one day at a time. If you screwed up today, tomorrow is a new day.
Move on!
